Hubungan antara Indeks Massa Tubuh dan Tekanan Darah pada Pasien Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2

Abstract

The onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus is associated with obesity. Decrease of insulin sensitivity induced by obesity can get insulin resistance that causes hyperglycemia. In another case, obesity can induce hypertension by release leptin and others adipokin from adipocytes. Majority of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients accompanied by hypertension. This research aimed to examine relationship between body mass index and blood pressure in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Research conducted on 150 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus registered in  Puskesmas Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta Barat. The result shows that there were correlated between body mass index and sistol and diastole pressure with low correlation strength. It showed that though body mass index influenced blood pressure, but it was not the main factor that influence blood pressure in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.

Abstrak

Onset penyakit diabetes mellitus tipe 2 diketahui berhubungan dengan obesitas. Penurunan sensitivitas insulin yang diinduksi oleh obesitas menyebabkan terjadinya resistensi insulin yang mengakibatkan hiperglikemia. Di sisi lain, obesitas dapat menginduksi terjadinya hipertensi melalui pelepasan leptin dan adipokin lainnya dari adiposity. Diketahui bahwa mayoritas pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2 disertai dengan hipertensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh dan tekanan darah pada pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2. Penelitian dilakukan pada 150 pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2 di Puskesmas Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta Barat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat hubungan antara indeks massa tubu dan tekanan darah sistoldan diastole dengan kekuatan hubungan yang lemah. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa indeks massa tubuh bukanlah factor utama yang mempengaruhi tekanan darah pada pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2.
