Abstract

Modernity has entered rural areas around the world, including the Balinese Aga, Kasepuhan Cirompang and Akha tribe in Laos. The impact of modernity has a major influence on the socio-economic and cultural structure of families and communities. The positive impact of modernization is the increase in economic welfare and the way of thinking of families and communities becomes more open. The negative side is the destruction of nature, the fading of spiritual values, the economy as the goal of life. These changes initially created a new environment in the community that was less comfortable, so it required them to adapt and rise from uncomfortable conditions until a new life was formed that resulted in progress in the community.
