Abstract

Abstract

Growing development of school-aged children depends on optimal nutrition with good quality and true quantity (Cahyadi, 2009). According to RISKESDAS 2010, the prevalence of malnutrition status occurred in Banten province (18.5%), while in Banten province still having children who were aged  6-12 years with stunting nutritional status (15.1%) and under weight (9.5% ). The purpose of this study was to analyze nutritional of snack and breakfast at elementary school children based on socio-economic level in Banten Province. The study was a cross-sectional study with using secondary data RISKESDAS 2010 on snacks and breakfast intake of children aged 6-12 years. The results from this study are the average total energy intake 1304.95 cal, total protein intake of 39.75 g, 184.90 g total carbohydrate intake and total fat intake of 45.44 g. We used T-test Independent to analyzing bivariate. From the test we found that there is a difference in energy intake, protein, and carbohydrates based on socio-economic level in Banten Province (p <0,05). However, no difference was found fat intake by socio-economic level in Banten Province (p ≥ 0.05). But we still need to conduct more intensive counseling on nutrition knowledge especially for safe snacks in elementary school.
