PREFERENSI CALON MAHASISWA DALAM MEMILIH PERGURUAN TINGGI SWASTA
Abstract
Private Universities are involved in tight competition to get a hold of the â€customers†to be prospective students. At least 2650 private universities and 82 public universities compete to win 1,700,000 prospective students every year.Therefore th4e private universities have entered perfect Competition Market Mechanism to attract the prospective students.This study provides one of the suggestions for universities especially private universities to develop srategy in order to obtain desired market share.The result of the study-which apllies Kendall’s W test-shows that out of nine criteria shown to respondent comprising 136 high school students from 16 high school in Jabodetabek. Cost of the study is the most important
consideration and Accreditation of the Universityis the least important consideration in choosing a university.This study
assumes that the students are rational respondetns; this means that they rationlize the determining factors in choosing their desired universities.
