ASUPAN OMEGA 3 DAN OMEGA 6 KAITANNYA DENGAN TEKANAN INTRAOKULAR PADA PENDERITA GLAUKOMA

Abstract


Background:Increased intraocular pressure beyond the normal limit is a factor causing glaucoma until causing permanent blindness. Intraocular pressure is influenced by several factors such as nutrient intake. Until now in Indonesia there is still limited research on the association of nutritional factors with intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients so it is necessary to do research on this. Objective: To determine the association between omega 3 and omega 6 intake to intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients. Methods: This study used a cross sectional design and accidental sampling technique found 45 glaucoma patients at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital. Omega 3 and omega 6 intake was obtained using the SQFFQ form, and intraocular pressure with non-contact tonometry. Statistical tests using the Spearman r=ank correlation tests. Results: This study found that there was no association between omega 3 intake (p = 0.148), omega 6 (p = 0.151) and right eye intraocular pressure. There was no association between omega 3 intake (p = 0.661), omega 6 (p = 0.443) and left eye intraocular pressure. Conclusion: Omega 3 and omega 6 intake has no association with intraocular pressure in both eyes.
