Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem caused by inadequate nutritional intake for a long time due to feeding that is not in accordance with nutritional needs. The most stunting cases were in Central Cilacap District, as many as 871 (13.10%) consisting of 173 (19%) very short and 698 (80%) cases. Puskesmas Cilacap Tengah II was ranked first out of 38 districts in Cilacap with the incidence of under-five stunting as many as 736 (25.9%) cases out of a total number of 2.837 under-fives. This study aims to determine the factors associated with stunting under five. This type of research is descriptive correlational with a cross sectional approach. The type of secondary data was taken using a checklist containing age, gender, history of exclusive breastfeeding, history of birth weight. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with 100 stunting cases and 100 controls. Data were analyzed univariately, bivariately with Chi Square test and multivariate using logistic regression. The results showed that most of the toddlers aged 24-59 months were male, exclusively breastfed and had adequate birth weight. All variables are related to the incidence of stunting in children under five. The age of toddlers 24-59 months is the dominant factor in the occurrence of stunting. Infants aged 24-59 months have a risk of experiencing stunting by 10 times greater than those aged 12-23 months after being controlled by exclusive breastfeeding. to develop stunting management that focuses on 24-59 months of age.
