DAMPAK TEKNOLOGI DIGITAL TERHADAP PERUBAHAN KONSUMSI MEDIA MASYARAKAT

Abstract

This study aims to determine the development of media usage by individual consumers, families, and communities in Indonesia related to technological change. The assumption is that digital technology has and is changing the consumption patterns of the community media consumption mode abandoned conventional media or combined with the use of digital media. The research methodology uses descriptive quantitative approach with secondary data from various sources. It is found that the adoption of telecommunications equipment in Indonesian households have switched from a device that uses a cable system (wire) to the wireless (LAN). Telekounikasi cable infrastructure to shrink drastically in household consumption; The development of wireless technology is adopted and the average of every member of the family. Mobile phone devices has increased the consumption of communication media; Additional key findings from the print media consumption has dropped dramatically in every family, and consumption of media has focused on the consumption of pulses for moving media; Radio broadcast media have been abandoned by the family of Indonesia and switch to listen to its own audio from digital devices individually on each member of the family, only occasionally monitored via radio streaming online or just on the go to monitor the traffic conditions of the capital; While television broadcasting remains a family tontotan. However, family members consume TV broadcast while at the same time also consume online media; and akhirnyaperkembangan access online media in Indonesia has been growing habit and a new culture in mediated for individuals and communities that have implications on the social, cultural, economic, and political.

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perkembangan penggunaan media oleh konsumen individu, keluarga, dan masyarakat Indonesia terkait dengan perubahan teknologi. Asumsinya adalah teknologi digital telah dan sedang mengubah pola-pola konsumsi media masyarakat dari mode konsumsi media konvensional yang ditinggalkan atau dikombinasikan dengan penggunaan media digital. Metodologi penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan data sekunder dari berbagai sumber. Diperoleh temuan bahwa adopsi perangkat telekomunikasi dalam rumah tangga Indonesia telah beralih dari perangkat yang menggunakan system kabel (wire) ke nirkabel (wireless). Infrastruktur telekounikasi kabel menyusut secara drastis dalam konsumsi rumah tangga; Perkembangan teknologi nirkabel diadopsi dan rata-rata dimiliki setiap anggota keluarga. Perangkat telepon seluler telah meningkatkan konsumsi media komunikasi; Temuan lainnya,konsumsi media cetak telah menurun drastis pada setiap keluarga, dan konsumsi media hanya terpusat pada konsumsi pulsa untuk media bergerak; Media siar radio telah ditinggalkan oleh keluarga Indonesia dan beralih mendengarkan audio sendiri dari perangkat digital secara pribadi pada setiap anggota keluarga, radio hanya sesekali dipantau melalui streaming online atau hanya saat dalam perjalanan untuk memantau kondisi lalulintas ibukota; Sedangkan siaran televisi masih menjadi tontotan keluarga. Namun demikian anggota keluarga mengonsumsi siaran TV sekaligus pada saat yang sama juga mengonsumsi media online; dan akhirnyaperkembangan akses media online di Indonesia telah dan sedang menumbuhkan kebiasaan dan kultur baru dalam bermedia bagi individu dan masyarakat yang berimplikasi pada sosial, budaya, ekonomi, dan politik.
