E-storybook Berbasis Aktivitas Bercerita dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris

Abstract


One of English skills that is important is speaking. English is a global language used by people around the world as communication tool. In fact, speaking skill has not been explored much. Moreover, it is found that many students use their mother tongue in their class. Therefore it is very essential to be taught in the classroom. One of the strategies applied is the use of e-storybook in the class. This study applies qualitative approach and case study as research methodology. The data source is third graders of Budi Luhur Pondok Aren elementary school. The results showed that the use of e-storybook based retelling story can help students to retell the story and have the story understanding. They are also glad to use the e-storybooks because they are equipped by various digital features.

Salah satu kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang sangat penting adalah kemampuan berbicara mengingat bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa global yang digunakan sebagai alat komunikasi oleh masyarakat dunia. Oleh karena itu kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris sangat penting diajarkan kepada siswa-siswi di sekolah karena kemampuan tersebut belum secara maksimal tereksplorasi. Masih ditemukan di dalam kelas, siswa-siswi menggunakan bahasa ibu mereka. Salah satu strategi yang digunakan untuk membantu kemampuan berbicara siswa adalah dengan menerapkan penggunaan e-storybook di dalam kelas khususnya dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan studi kasus sebagai metode penelitian. Sumber datanya adalah siswa-siswi kelas 3 SD Budi Luhur Pondok Aren. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan e-storybook yang berbasis aktivitas bercerita dapat membantu kemampuan berbicara siswa dan kemampuan memahami isi cerita. Selain itu siswa lebih senang menggunakan e-storybook karena dilengkapi dengan berbagai macam fitur digital.
